Any idea on price or availability?
This would be a great companion to my X-touches.
8 faders just ain't enough but I don't really have room for 2 large full X-touches.

Just a note that the new version of the GUI now has built-in support for the rtpMIDI used by the X-Touch Extender, as well as the X-Ctrl protocol used by the main X-Touch unit.  No more USB!!!!

So just curious.  Is there any reason to not just use 2 X touch extenders, rather than an X Touch with one extender?

As much as I loath to buy another Behringer it does look like the best way to go for AMP.

You can use just the extenders if you like.  The bigger one has direct access to a lot of auxes and view groups, plus you get the scene advance/previous/recall buttons, as well as media start/stop.  Those functions can be handy.

Also, scribble strip colors only work on the bigger X-Touch, as they haven't put the code in the extenders yet.

Thanks for filling me in.  I can see where some of the extra buttons would be very helpful.  Perhaps worth the extra cost.  I typically have the space but not always.  But maybe the end goal is to have one main unit with two extenders and where space is tight just use one or two extenders.

It's interesting that scribble strip colors are not supported on the extender, they certainly appear to do so in the pictures on the web site.  Not that that means anything really.

Hi Bob,

I have the main unit and one extender.
Please talk me through getting the xtouch protocol to work. I am really interested in seeing the scribble strip colors function. Which template and what mode the main unit needs to be in.
I have successfully connected with rtpMIDI and the MCU template.

Thanks

Hey Steve,

1. Set your X-touch to use the XCTL protocol (just the plain one, not any of the combo ones).
2. In AMP, change the interface for that controller to use X-Ctl Protocol.
3. Enter the IP address in the field below of what is displayed on the X-touch.
4. Use the template file X-Crtl.xml.

Should lock and rock!

Try as I might. I can't get it to connect. I've tried 3 different systems.

I have also noticed that the midi preferences are not being saved correctly in the GUI settings.
No matter what profile I use, it is blank when reopening the software after saving the GUI settings.

Hey Steve,

Try nuking your GUI config file, and doing your config again.  I have seen weird stuff happen when it uses old config files.  I do know that the GUI midi controller parameters do get saved properly, as I've done several shows recently where that would have been very evident if it were not working.

Hi Bob,

I have the same problem. Just can't get it to work. suspiciously I can't see a config file in the c:\gui folder. It seems to be saving some aspects of config though. Has the config file location/name changed?

Yes, the config file is now in the local user's folder, since Windows wants to only let us write within that folder.  It is under appdata\roaming\ampgui
