    Controllers / Re: iPad Control

    Hi Brett,

Just reading back thru the older messages.  Are you asking for a command such that a MIDI controller could reset the EQ to flat?  Exactly which commands do you need?

It is possible that the "meters" are just a litle tiny 1 pixel wide sliver in the scribble strip window... that's the only thing I can think of!

It's actually surprising how much I look at those meters. Its one of those things that until you have them, you don't realize what you're missing.

    Hey Brett,

I have the 8-channel one here, which looks identical to their pic of the 16 channel version - the only difference is the fader count.

Its also USB only, which is a pain when you have multiple units.

The thing is, Behringer actually got this thing right... It really is ideal for live use.  The layout of the control surface is important.  The Motormixes were a pretty decent style.  There was the issue of slop in the faders, and not being able to make small adjustments, but for the most part, it was very usable.  I could swipe across the mutes or selects, and all responded.  You can't do that with the presonus.  The scribble strips are wider than tall on the Behringer.  Presonus is the opposite, so it's harder to read.  Presonus doesn't have meters.  It doesn't have buttons that you can use for direct mix access.

The X-touch Extender is almost a direct replacement for the Motormix, without the additional side buttons.  I actually do find myself missing all the added buttons of the normal x-touch when I just use the extenders, as we now have some really cool functions that you can do... like talkback, tap tempo, pot assigns, etc...

We have been experimenting with some i3 machines here, with good results, at least with the Dante card.  It's funny, the same PC with a MOTU card does not work nearly as well.  A lot of the newer machines are PCI Express only, so I can't even use my RME PCI stuff for testing.

It really is about clock speed and processor efficiency.  With a 3.7GHz i3, I can run all 128 channels of IO, and still have CPU to burn.

We are working very dilligently to get to the release point as soon as possible.  The past month, we've been working quite a bit on control surface support.  We don't have a Mackie XT here, but because AMP uses a modifiable config file for the controller, the changes of it working, or being able to get it to work are pretty high.

    Hi Matt,

Are you using a controller with a 9th fader?  That was causing some issues before.  Try setting it to 8, and see if that fixes anything.

AMP only uses a single password for user authentication.  Permissions should be fully implemented in the GUI, but not currently in the web gui.

What a pity too, as the Presonus control surface is one of the least-friendly boxes to use.  Tiny mute and solo buttons right next to each other make them almost useless.

Go with the Behringer X-Touch extenders, or the full X-touch.  BTW, the next GUI release (hopefully this week) will include color scribble strips for the X-Touch!

Not yet.  We are tabling the VST support until after the release, but it is definitely on the list.

    Hey Jeff,

In some limited experience, the Xeon processors tend to favor stability over clock speed.  Also, some will require parity RAM, which I've read might cause a slight hit on performance.  Let us know what you find out!

WDL Hacking / Re: Channel names horizontal vice sideways?

    Hey Jeff,

There is a text-direction variable that can be set in the WDL, but none of the current options will do that.  I can put that on a feature request list though.

Personally, that was one thing that bugged me a lot about sac - I found it very hard to read quickly text like that.

    Hi Jeff,

Hmm, does it do that after you have done any specific function in the GUI?  That address I do not believe is actually in AMP code.

We have been doing a lot of work in terms of closing up a few stability issues, so I would be curious to have you try 0.9.73 when we publish that, which should be within the week hopefully.

    Hi Jeff,

You can't change the order of your inputs - that's a MOTU thing.  I mean, you can plug stuff into different sockets on your MOTUs.  It would be very confusing to introduce yet another level of remapping.

You can rename what names the MOTU gives though, so it's more friendly.  It is under Configuration -> Mixer Design Manager, the first two tabs.
